Ethics and Integrity

Advances in Medical Informatics is committed to upholding the highest ethical standards in scholarly publishing. We adhere to the Core Practices established by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) to ensure integrity and trustworthiness in all aspects of the publication process.

Publication and Authorship Standards

  • Peer Review: All submissions undergo rigorous peer review by at least two international experts selected by the Editor-in-Chief.
  • Evaluation Criteria: Manuscripts are assessed for originality, relevance, clarity, methodological rigor, statistical validity, and language quality.
  • Decision Outcomes: Possible decisions include rejection, request for major revisions, request for minor revisions, or acceptance.
  • Exclusivity: Submissions must be exclusive to Advances in Medical Informatics and not under consideration elsewhere.
  • Compliance: Acceptance is contingent upon adherence to legal standards regarding libel, copyright, and plagiarism.

Authors' Responsibilities

  • Originality: Ensure manuscripts are original and not previously published or under review elsewhere.
  • Authorship: All listed authors must have made significant contributions to the research and manuscript preparation.
  • Integrity: Provide accurate and authentic data, acknowledge all sources, and disclose any conflicts of interest.
  • Ethical Compliance: Obtain necessary ethical approvals and informed consent where applicable.
  • Participation: Engage constructively in the peer review process and respond promptly to editorial requests.
  • Accountability: Report any errors post-publication and refrain from withdrawing manuscripts after acceptance.

Reviewers' Responsibilities

  • Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of all manuscript content.
  • Objectivity: Provide unbiased, constructive, and evidence-based feedback without personal criticism.
  • Conflict of Interest: Disclose any potential conflicts and recuse themselves from reviewing if necessary.
  • Professionalism: Offer clear, detailed, and respectful critiques to assist authors in enhancing their work.

Editorial Responsibilities

  • Decision Authority: Editors and the Editor-in-Chief hold full authority to accept or reject manuscripts based on merit and relevance.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure all published content meets the journal's high standards of quality and integrity.
  • Corrections: Issue errata or corrigenda for significant errors affecting the scientific record or reputation.
  • Ethical Oversight: Uphold ethical guidelines and address any misconduct with appropriate actions.
  • Transparency: Maintain clarity regarding funding sources and avoid conflicts of interest within the editorial team.

Publishing Ethics

All participants in the publication process must adhere to ethical standards, ensuring honesty, transparency, and integrity. Major corrections post-acceptance require valid justification, and the corresponding author holds the authority to withdraw manuscripts before publication.
